Do you remember I posted about the London Gay Pride in 2010, my third pride I’ve been to in total?! Well I mentioned I met an Aussie girl, part of the highlight of the day for sure. Well we clicked, and before she finished her brief time in the UK we both wanted to do a shoot and in particular she wanted some new relaxed Actors Head Shots .. something I do very well :)

Julia Aquila Bilington was going to her friends party in the evening so I grabbed a couple of hours earlier in the day to play and walk about London grabbing some photos of her for her head shots. I know most of you think, ugh, its a photo shoot but I have to stress that mine are fun! Everything in life can be enjoying if you add fun. I love walkabouts in London, discovering new places, visiting old haunts. Exploring locations and expressions of self are cool in my book.

I love it when just after a more serious photo, Julia cracks up laughing! She has a beautiful heart and is incredibly talented actress over down under in Australia. You can see some of her vlogs about her recent show called My Name is Rachel Corrie.

We had the best fun playing around, you can see one in front of the shop window that I then ‘wrote’ over as a keep sake memento from the two of us. Also there’s one photo which isn’t my best work but was an experimental shot to try to get groovy clouds and St. Paul’s Cathedral in the background. What I didn’t bank on was just how many people were there .. yikes! So I tried to compensate by darkening my exposure in camera and in direct opposites to how much I darkened by balancing with light from my handheld flash. What can I say, its something to practise and perfect ;)

Julia it has been GREAT getting to know you and I’m so happy you became a client of mine and even happier that your a good friend too.

Keep enjoying yourself out there in Aussieland!

The joy found in rays of light

The joy found in rays of light

On one of my many walks with my dog, one day was a misty fog and I was excited, the previous night I'd seen some fog photos by another photography and I wanted to try and have a go. Well .. here it was, I was unusually awake at an ungodly hour before sunrise and...

Had some fun doing pro selfies in the back garden

Yesterday I was going little crazy during this lockdown isolation. I'm used to working from home but I miss just going out and driving somewhere for a nice walk on the beach or long circular country walk. Instead it was a short walk near home (fortunately still...

Falling in love with the moments among strangers

Falling in love with the moments among strangers

There are times I have my camera with me and I can see moments happening where the light is just right and a beautiful moment is happening in front of me. I fall in love, in joy, in peace, in wonder with these moments among strangers. When a person is looking away and...
