I second shot as the first experience since going ‘pro’ along side Jazz Ampaw Farr. I met Jon who is a lovely guy, slightly shy when faced with TWO photographers but he soon was right into the swing of being photographed and chatted with. Jazz is a fantastic photographer to shadow and learn how she works. I’ve learned we have wildly different style of shooting but that this is the precise reason why we are such individual photographers.

It was an invaluable experience to shoot with Jazz. She is almost the exact opposite of me when it comes to working with clients and that was fantastic to see and experience.
- Where as I am quieter, Jazz is beautifully loud and funny
- Where I put a camera in front of my face I can’t communicate .. Jazz just keeps on going, cracking a joke and capturing that smile.
It was quite gut wrenching for me to experience her style and realise that I will NEVER be like that. I wish with all my heart that I could chat and goof away with clients with a camera in front of my face but that is not going to happen .. camera in front of my face = no ability to lip read! Also Jazz rightly had the ‘chat’ time with Jon and I didn’t .. this lack of communication between Jon and myself is immediately visible to me in photos. My job that day was to assist Jazz and that I delivered very well. Making sure she had what she needed, capturing the moments while they chatted, joked and had fun. The above photo is a good example of this.
Since then I’ve shot a few more times with others, including a few weddings which I hope to blog about soon. I’ve recovered my sense of self and realised I’m as good .. just different. When you as my client meet me, you’ll find I can be funny, goofy and a great person to chat with .. we’ll just find a working style where we goof around and then take photos, or I goof around and you can laugh at me!
Thank you so much Jazz for the opportunity to shoot with you and learn so much of myself and how I work because of this.

Cathie – you are so fab and I am loving watching your business grow! You go girl!
