This year of 2011 has been an amazing year, a heck of a lot has happened and I’m still standing and loving photography more and more each day. I love to be able to look back at my gallery of images every so often and here are the highlights of the year for me.

I got to try my hands at some very very .. crazy .. cool fashion photography :D

I went to two wedding workshops and also meet one of my wedding idols: Jasmine Star! I learned a lot of new technique and business knowledge this year and I’ve directed many little moments of intimacy that are now captured forever.

I’ve second shot several weddings this year besides some utterly amazing photographers, including my first (of hopefully many) gay civil commitment ceremony.

I’ve also photographed and met many new photography friends along my journey this year while living in London, to moving outside of London to moving northwards to West Yorkshire.  Yup that’s me on the right with my wild big hair that refuses to be tamed at all at times :| .. uhuh, thanks for the fluffy hair do weather .. so my hair adventures will continue to 2012 to infinity and beyond.

I also challenge myself to grow and do things I’ve never done before .. shot in pure ambient light in the middle of a pitch black evening! Then what happened? I happened to capture a photo that I absolutely love.

Also who loves to dress up at times and do some really fun, joking and expressive self portraits to experiement with new techniques;) .. uh, that’d be me!

This has been a year of many changes, dips in confidence, climbing back up and then flying for a while on a wave of happy feelings when I capture that perfect moment. I’ve had more ‘perfect moments’ this year and I am so grateful for them, I’ve got them captured and living on my photographic memory collection.

Enjoy looking through my hightlights, shown in the order they happened through the year. Thank you all for an amazing year and I hope to continue and grow into 2012. See you next year on my blog.

The power of a look, a dog portrait

The power of a look, a dog portrait

It's funny how a dog staring at you trying to tell you something, and sunlight at just the right point can be so so powerful. Here's a Mabel stare .. mum, mum, look into my eyes .. I'm trying to tell you something! Followed by a slightly softer look, more of a dog...

A mini blep in the woods

A mini blep in the woods

I've been taking my camera out with me more and more lately, especially while walking with my dog. I'm really enjoying having something to capture mini slices of life, to help me focus on a single moment and not the chaos of life. I loved this little green leaf among...

Long exposures & Markets

Long exposures & Markets

I am pushing my own comfort boundaries and that night, I went to the christmas market with the leeds deaf photography group to practise my BSL, be social with new folks and pick up my camera again for me, to capture the world as I see it. This is what I saw.

Glad to hear you survived the move Oop North. And I lol’d at your Big Hair. :D

2011 had been so-so for me. Health wise, no problems, thank goodness. Work wise however, not so good – we spent March and April working short hours due to cashflow problems, and the flow of work has become more erratic. I’m hoping things pick up in 2012, but I’m also starting to make plans in case I need to go look for a new job.

Hi, I went to two of Miss Aniela’s fashion shoot experiences so it wasn’t a workshop exactly but she spent about 10 minutes with me during the 6 hour day and very quickly explained the principles and I put them into action. I already understood the basic but had never actually put it into practice and I’ve LOVED playing with the results.. so much so I’m trying to create a collection to show in an exhibition. Fingers crossed.
