I offered my client Yolandi & Daniel a free treasure the dress shoot because they replied to a blog post advertising a free shoot for my readers. Yolandi got in touch just a couple of days after I posted it and the rest is history. I posted a sneak peak on the day of the shoot as I’m apt to do, just because I get so excited I HAVE TO see something finished from the shoot the same day if possible!

Treasure the dress shoots are a wonderful bonus to have after your wedding. Because weddings go by so fast and we want to keep the glow of the wedding and honeymoon to last as loooong as possible. This is one way to do so .. in Yolandi’s case she had a winter wedding and wanted to get her dress out and have a shoot with her hubby to celebrate their love and their clothes from the day. I think this is a fantastic thing to do and I think / hope I did her clothes and feelings justice in my photography.

I offer free shoots every so often because I wish to push my boundaries and play a little more with light. This couple were perfectly up for me stretching my creative wings further and invited their own photographer friend to come play too and I added an assistant / second shooter to come as well and the five of us had a blast.

Special thanks go to Sarah of Aranya Photography for being my wonderful assistant and second shooter that day. Without her it would have been much MUCH harder to do this shoot and in reality, a few shots just wouldn’t have happened without my ‘voice activated reflector holder’! Cheers me dears, you were a big help.

All in all, I’m really happy with quite a few shots from this day .. the game of overpower the sun was successful and now I’m going to learn to refine it by using a softbox next time *happy sigh*.

Really love your new site, Cathi! What a great way to get new shots—offering a free shoot. And you couldn’t dream up a prettier location—lavender fields! I agree with you on the excitement generated by a great shoot—I run home and immediately start viewing and working on a few images. I can’t help myself either!
