Today was all about websites again, but a new one specifically for Idomeni Volunteers. I got to meet with the main support crew organiser Phoebe and sat down to chat about what they need for their website. So while it was a great discussion and I got all the details for what they need as a brief to follow .. it doesn’t make for such scintillating blog posting so I’m going to move swiftly on.

While taking a break I took my camera out and walked around the back of the hotel compound where all of the volunteers who are camping stay and something interesting struck me .. we have washing lines of clothes, the same kind of tents, the same basic needs as the refugees. The only difference between the volunteers and refugees, is that the refugees have no legal means in which to move on and move location. All of us volunteers do, we have a passport that allows us to cross borders easily. We have not had our homes and livelihoods bombed out of existence.
There was a beautiful sunset and afterwards I was invited to the co-ordinators meeting to present what I was generating for the website and also extend an offer to the projects to film a short interview of each of them, to share information about their projects and what they need from volunteers.
You can see the projects and the videos that I could capture in my remaining days there on the Idomeni Volunteers website.
The last photos show how the Idomeni camp is laid out and also the organisation that takes place to have volunteers organised to help provide aid alongside the big organisations like the UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees) & MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières).
