Today I got my lovely package via the post, a new lens! Specifically the Helios 44mm f2 manual lens for my Fuji XT1, with a M42 – FX converter. As per usual when it comes to new photography gear it was a beedy eyed look around the house and garden for things to photograph that would test a few features of the lens.

One of things I’m really looking forward to perfecting with this lens is the swirly bokeh I’ve heard its famous for. I’m really enjoying the creamy backgrounds and tack sharp lens, especially with the Fuji focus peaking to show the areas of the image in focus.

I really REALLY like the how the out of focus areas (ie bokeh) renders with this lens and you can just about start to see how the bokeh circles have elongated on the top left of the image .. ie, the hints of the beginning of a swirl?!

Eeeeee I’m excited.

Long exposures & Markets

Long exposures & Markets

I am pushing my own comfort boundaries and that night, I went to the christmas market with the leeds deaf photography group to practise my BSL, be social with new folks and pick up my camera again for me, to capture the world as I see it. This is what I saw.
