on the topic of Life

A couple of days ago I, along with 39 other photographers, attended a wedding bridal shoot organised by the wonderful Melissa Love. You can see the original sneak peek I showed and my absolute favourite photo from the day. I had an absolute blast and had my photographers heart stolen by a young Miss Flora who was modelling that day as her debue! Talk about a fantastic first modelling job girlie!

CathieGraphy - Treasure the Dress Bridal Shoot PhotographerHave you ever had a day that was calm, then frantic, then happy, then nervous, then bouncing with glee and then .. and then .. and then?! Well that was this day. I was looking foward to shooting a Jane Austen themed bridal shoot .. which is just too cool a theme. Then I was looking forward to meeting 39 new photographer friends and network connections. Then it was time for planning, packing my bags, going over my pack list to check I had everything and then figuring out how to get there .. ie. trust the fancy satnav I have and google maps!

It’s like the best of days .. where so many great things happen that it all blurs and I rely on my photography to prove to myself that it all really did happen, it wasn’t a dream. This day was a day that just completely validated my love of photography all over again .. I truly wish I could bottle the emotions I get from this, especially when seeing the final images. The ones that stick like glue in my memory and I rush home to edit it in the hope its the gold dust I’ve managed to capture and refine into magic. Then when it comes to life on my screen, it feels like my heart breaks and leaks that proverbial gold and my eyes start leaking .. no I’m no crying, just leaking joy.

Ps. I love the ‘break up fight’ play time that occurred at the end to portray a massive argument / fight between bride and groom at the end of their wedding day or the one that didn’t occur! All done in fun and the couple were really struggling not to giggle all the way through the end of the shoot :D

The power of a look, a dog portrait

The power of a look, a dog portrait

It's funny how a dog staring at you trying to tell you something, and sunlight at just the right point can be so so powerful. Here's a Mabel stare .. mum, mum, look into my eyes .. I'm trying to tell you something! Followed by a slightly softer look, more of a dog...

A mini blep in the woods

A mini blep in the woods

I've been taking my camera out with me more and more lately, especially while walking with my dog. I'm really enjoying having something to capture mini slices of life, to help me focus on a single moment and not the chaos of life. I loved this little green leaf among...

Long exposures & Markets

Long exposures & Markets

I am pushing my own comfort boundaries and that night, I went to the christmas market with the leeds deaf photography group to practise my BSL, be social with new folks and pick up my camera again for me, to capture the world as I see it. This is what I saw.

Oh Cathie, what an inspiring and beautiful set of pictures! You must be gleeful to have got all these wonderful shots! And thank you for saying such nice things about Flora. I have to say she spent ALL of yesterday in her pj’s. Obviously thinks she doesn’t get out of bed now for nothing less than a Jane Austen shoot!! I’ll pop your blog details on her FB page so she and all her friends can catch up! Congrats again, lovely, lovely pics. (And those sneaky indoor shots – brill)!! xx

What a gorgeous theme! These are stunning, beautiful set of images you’ve caught. Love love the girl laying down on the quilt with the book near her hand, that is gorgeous.
